 Fantastic.... when used with a PC! December 14, 2008

Let me start by saying this is a fantastic router. Its brilliant at holding a stable DSL connection, it gets faster speeds than any other router i've used, the interface is great. Its just generally an all round brilliant router.
Only problem is (and its a major one) its a nightmare trying to get devices that aren't PCs or laptops to connect due to RangeMax technology. You see, wireless consoles such as the PS3 or PSP are totally incompatible with RangeMax and won't be able to hold a connection with it.
Do not buy unless you only intend to use it with PCs / Laptops!!!

Looks pretty (no ariels and cute flashing LEDs) but my DG834PN was rubbish. Every time the XBox 360 Wifi joysticks were on the wifi connection to my laptop would drop to almost nothing. Also had loads of problem with random hanging and needing rebooting dispite many firmware updates. I eventually sold it and replaced with a BT Voyager 2110 which works flawlessley but don't look as pretty.

I am a total novice regarding IT stuff, I had this connected set-up and running in 20mins. Thought is was going to be a nightmare but set up CD was brill. Kids well happy, strong signal and good connection speeds.

I got this router as a replacement for its lower model Netgear 834 54mps because of a fault that occured. This fault was that whenever i unplugged the ADSL cable from the phone socket to change between phones the internet light would flash amber and not turn green i tried resetting the router many times but it would not work I changed the cable i still would not work. I then took it back to the shop and they gave me a replacement i took the replacement of this higher model and paid the difference for the 834 pn it worked fine for 3 months then The mains tripped and was cut off. I could not get it to work in just the same way so I took it back again and got a Belkin router they not as highly rated as netgear but at least dont have this problem. Many people have recommended netgear routers as the best, that is when they work but this looks like a fault that they still havent sorted out. I cannot take the risk of being without internet if there is a power cut. So if you are worried about this think about buying something else like Belkin or D-Link.
