Great Value for money. December 5, 2008 Professor Potter (london) I added this module to an old Dell laptop with 256mb to make it 768mb in total. Absolutely big difference in performance. Great value. With all memory upgrades, it is recommended to always change your virtual memory setting so that it is one and a half times the physical memory installed. This maximises the performance efficiency of your laptop and trust me it makes a difference. To do this, do the following: For Windows XP: Click on start. RIGHT CLICK on My Computer. Click on Properties. Click on Advanced. Click on the first Settings button (under Performance). Click Advanced. Click on Change button (under Virtual memory). If you look at the bottom, Windows XP recommends an amount (which is always one and a half times the physical memory installed). Type this amount in both the Initial size box and Maximum size box. Click OK 3 times. Then restart your laptop if prompted. For other operating systems such as Win 98, I cant quite remember the process but it will be similar. Have not used Vista but I am sure you can find it similarly if you are savvy enough upgrade your memory ;)
Works a treat October 29, 2008 A. Wiseman I bought two of these to upgrade the memory in my Dell Latitude C840 which only had 256MB on board. With 1GB the machine is so much faster and responsive - worth every penny. (Although I wish I'd not believed the official specs and websites - colleagues who have this laptop tell me the maximum RAM it can handle isn't 1GB as advertised but 2GB.)
laptop memory review August 28, 2008 computer buff This product is good value, prompt delivery installed in my laptop and every thing worked fine not much more to say about this product, except you can install it along side pc2100 memory module as ddr memory is backward compatiable with the slower memory speed
Massive performance boost August 1, 2008 Philip Hale (Somerset) Bought this for use in a late 2004 iBook G4, upgrading from 512MB to 1024MB. Start-up time is reduced massively, and I can now run iTunes, LastFM, Thunderbird, Preview, Textedit, Word, and Firefox with 10+ tabs no problem, which is more than I hoped for! Also, Wake-from-sleep is just as quick as ever, which again I didn't expect. Like other reviewers have said, it either works or it doesn't, and I have had no problems whatsoever since installation about 6 months ago. One thing to note though is that this does cut battery time on the iBook quite considerably. There's not much point in saying how long I get per charge because my battery is over a year old, but I'd guess the battery now lasts 2/3 of what it used to now there's an extra stick of ram draining the battery. 5 stars because increased power consumption is inevitable and perhaps obvious.
Excellent. April 30, 2008 Mr. A. M. HOGG (London, UK) Have installed these into my partner's old Samsung P29 portable/laptop. An excellent machine, that has had it's life extended by dropping two of these into it to replace some ancient 256MB modules. Though any top-enders are out, it will even now run more older and recent-ish games, that we still play (e.g. StarCraft, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War, Neverwinter Nights, and at a pinch on minimum settings Guild Wars.) The main use for her machine is her "Home Office" type stuff, internet, e-mail etc. And for that it's quite adequate. Now it can serve as an emergency backup for other uses at some of the milder LAN parties. Summary: Solid, well performing, laptop memory; if a little pricey considering it's age.
