worked for one week, then failed January 20, 2008 Purple Dragon (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first time I plugged into my computer (running XP) launchpad worked perfectly, and I thought I had found the best product of the year. I happily bought and loaded on some new U3 software. One week later, having used it in a couple of work computers, I plug it back into my laptop only to find that the Launchpad (the indispensible platform for running the software on the flashdisk) utterly failed to initialise properly, hanging once it got as far as the icon in my tray. All that money on those programs wasted.... The technology is promising but from what I can gather, U3 is still VERY unreliable, and one cannot uninstall and reinstall so if it fails, that's it folks. As far as I can tell, my disk is useful now only for data storage which I don't need or want.
Top quality product November 26, 2007 Matthew Roycroft (England, UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've owned this drive for 6 months now, using it every day just carrying it in my pockets. I recently bought a 4gb cruzer micro to replace it with and am regretting not spending a bit more on the titanium model. Everything about this drive is top quality, construction feels solid, it has a really useful clip (attaches like a pen to your shirt etc.) and is incredibly fast. There's not much else to say about this, if you want a top quality product that will stand up to abuse buy this, if not buy the cheaper micro driver.
Worth the money September 15, 2007 D. James (UK) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this a few weeks ago after scouring pages of PC magazines to find a "best buy". It feels a lot more robust than other drives because of its weight. The retractable usb connector is good but still prone to picking up dirt if you leave it in a pocket or bag. The U3 software that comes with it is very innovative and is great for all users of PCs but it will not work on Macs - something to bear in mind if you're going to be using a lot of different Macs. I've had a look at the U3 but never had a reason to use the software as the main applications I use (Microsoft word/powerpoin/excel) are on all PCs that I access. However, just as a simple storage device, I'd recommend it.
Tough and smart August 13, 2007 A. Delaney (Liverpool, England) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This USB drive is priced slightly higher than other USB drives of the same capacity but it's really good. It can withstand a lot being made of titanium, this is good if you have particularly important data stored on it. I've heard of some problems with the key ring however if it gets twisted it can split the case in two but i have not come across that problem. Another good point is that the connector which plugs into a computer port is retractable so when not in use it is protected in the tough exterior. This also means that you don't have to worry about a detachable lid as i for one have lost lids before which leaves the connector exposed and vulnerable to damage. It comes with u3 software pre installed on it if you do not like it it can be uninstalled and the drive will act like a normal USB drive. When the software is started up it brings up a small box similar to the start menu on Windows allowing you access to your files stored in pictures, video etc. It also has a programs list, listing all the programs stored on your USB drive, this means no matter what computer you use you take your own software with you and don't have to worry if say the computer in the library has software to view PDF files. There is a wide selection of software available to download from the u3 web site. Some of it is free but some you have to pay for, I manage fine with the free software so unless there is something you really want just use the free stuff. The software ranges from web browsers, e-mail clients, calenders, games, photo/video viewers and more (There's too much to mention here I recommend you check the web site out before you buy it to see what software is available and that it's what you want). My top download is Open Office it contains a word processor, presentation software, spreadsheet software and database software. Not as good as the ones you pay for but still excellent for free and it has so many features. They can all open and save in a wide range of formats including Microsoft Office files. It's really useful in uni as when I finally find a free PC and realise Microsoft Office has stopped working on it I can still get my work done. I have also heard people mention problems with Windows Vista compatibility but i think this is from when it was first released. There are downloads available from their website to correct this but mine was compatible straight from the packet. Also if using Vista you can use ready boost to boost your computer memory. This is perfect for students or business men/women who are constantly using different computers but anyone will find this useful.
