Love it September 28, 2008 W. Paul 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After having had several bad experiences with data loss in external hard drives in the past, I was at first unwilling to buy another. However, I have had this drive for well over a year now, dropped it from several feet onto hard ground several times and not been too kind to it, and it still works FANTASTICALLY. Barely a whisper, no vibrations at all and only the tiniest hint of warmth. Very highly recommended.
Don't take the chance! July 12, 2008 Kirsten Taubensee (London, UK.) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I decided to go for this product, despite reading slightly negative reviews as I thought I wasn't that unlucky. DON'T DO IT. It lasted about 6 months before I turned it on and was greeted with the smell of burning plastic. It's now completely unsavageable and has cost me about 800 pounds in data recovery, though I haven't managed to get everything back. It works ok for a time, but just not worth the risk of it blowing up. I'm shopping for a new one and will steer well clear of this product.
Does a good job March 25, 2008 Choosy (Wolverhampton) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have two of the 250GB model on the go, one backing up a Sony Vaio laptop (weekly) and one backing up a new iMac on its 'Time Machine' every hour on the hour. They have been humming away in the background for about two months without any problems so far. My rating reflects experience to date.
Does what it says on the tin... March 12, 2008 Seaguller (England) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I've got this and a smaller version of a Freecom hard drive. Both have been a doddle to install, look good and have given me no problems whatsoever. For the price I don't think you can go wrong with one of these.
Five star can't fault it! March 11, 2008 M. Lupton (Leeds) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I've used a number of Freecom devices, In my office we have 6 of these 250gb models in use 9 - 5.30, 5 days a week and touch wood no problems to report. Hard drives can fail or pack up at any time without warning, knowing that Freecom has UK based support gives me peace of mind that any problems i may have will quickly be resolved.
