3 out of 5 stars Could have been a lot better   September 29, 2008
This was one of the first games i bought for me on the ds, and i have mixed feelings about it. Personally, i like the graphics, the lessons are fun to do, and you get to do OWL's in them, which makes you feel you're learning something. I aso liked how the touch screen was used to cast spells and how both screen and mic were used in the lessons. I also liked the fights because you had to be stratigic, especially when harry fights the death eaters!

HOWEVER, this game has a lot of faults. For starters, what's with the grating sound? I've heard better mobile phone ringtones! I had to play with the sound off- a real shame as it could have complimented the graphics more. There's way to much fighting going on. I understand that harry and co have loads of fights (having seen the films and read the books many times) but does a fight have to happen everytime when harry and co run into malfoy and his mates? The talk scenes go on forever, and i can't press the button quick enough to get it over and done with. I was also under the impression that you were free to roam the castle, but in one part, there seems to be an archway harry can't get through, even though it looks like you can, and when harry goes the wrong way when on a mission, you're stopped going that way. I now understand why all the characters look stick thin- just how many times do you have to run up and down the stairs?! At least they get some exercise! Finally, the hidden objects that unlock photos. Great idea with one flaw- where is the last chocolate frog?! I have played this game three times and searched everywhere and i can not find it! I have also completed all the mini games and passed all the OWL's with "outstanding" but this does not get rewarded, which is a real shame!

Overall, i did enjoy this game but i hope these things are changed, otherwise they may find they will lose a lot of gamers.

this game bored me within the first hour i played it,
you seem to have to travel the Hogwarts stairs forever, and with the game handling not being the best, playing gets a bit annoying.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad......   January 31, 2008
This game isn't terrible, it just isn't a world beater either.

I enjoyed it as it was one of the first games I played on my new DS. The tasks were easy enough, occasionally challenging but I did find the whole thing quite repetative and the fact that you find yourself back in the common room everytime gets a wee bit disheartening!!!!

Play Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on the Xbox instead - much more fun!!!!

2 out of 5 stars Its really easy but some parts are too hard..   January 24, 2008
I found this game very dull and repetitive with only a basic structure.

I spent about 3 hours trying to do the part with the footsteps in professer umbridges office without sucess, I found it to hard.

Well this is my first DS game so ok not much to compare it to yet....but I like it. Ok there are the camera angles and I appreciate what people are saying but it is a nice easy introduction to something which clearly explains what to do.

I would recommend this as a starter game!
