Freezing August 20, 2008 This is a really fun game, but has a major flaw. It has happened to me and many others I know, when you try and open your inventory at certain points of the game or frequently enter the lift, the game will freeze and you will be unable to continue. However, just restarting the game does not impove this, your game will continue to do this and you'll be unable to continue. My advise is to either not by the sims games for portable gaming devices OR save the game frequently to a different save point each time so if your game does freeze you can return to a previous save point.
Fab August 10, 2008 This game is the best game I have ever played i got it for daughter and she loved it she isstill playing it and she says all her friends say they loved it to.
Boring July 26, 2008 I bought this game expecting a computer-like sims game only to find that you no longer have to look after your sim as you did before, the graphics are appalling and you don't even create your own house. Instead you look after a hotel which you can extend but you cannot choose what these rooms look like. You can furnish guest rooms and your own. I found the game confusing and tiresome because it will suddenly tell you, you need 8 mechanical points. Collecting these points (one of which appears every 8 hours and they're not guaranteed to be mechanical) was not my idea of fun. Would not recommend this game to anyone.
disappointing July 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm eight years old and I had seen a friend play this game and I thought it looked really cool!
In the end I persuaded my mum to buy it for me.The cover showed that you could do looooooooooooads of things - playing music and being able to change your background when making your sim. I was really exited!!! You start off doing chores they set you - like hoovering, getting rid of an alien and turning the lights back on - great to begin with until you have done all of them and it starts to be boring just checking the hotel you're managing is in order and all the people are in a good mood.
I'm frustrated with this game, as then the best thing is to just play a card game. Maybe I'm missing something, but I never get to the things I was promised on the cover.
Sorry for such a low mark, if you're planning to buy it - I would go for Animal Crossing or Zelda - they're much more fun.
Easily addictive! April 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read most of the reviews on here, and while I agree with some of the negative points raised, I still found this game a whole lot of fun.
I think it mainly works for me because I'm a collector. I love to get matched sets of things, and that's something you can definitely do in this game - with 50 skillpoints and 24 license plates to collect at different times of day, as well as a secret to worm out of just about every character you encounter (nothing from the people you buy from, though), there's a lot of things to acquire.
This is what saves the game, IMO. A good RPG should always provide something new to strive for, and Sims 2 does this: after you complete all the main tasks for the story mode, you still have all the secrets, skillpoints and plates to collect. Although the real-time setting can be annoying, I like it because it makes it more of a challenge to find everything. It's not in the league of great RPGs like Pokemon or Zelda, but it's still fun.
There's not a lot of action in this game, so if that's what you're looking for you'll be disappointed. But if you're like me and just want a slow, gentle game to play, you might find this sufficiently entertaining.
