The RTS genre has yet to be saturated. Nevertheless, it had been getting repetitive and stale lately. PARAWORLD was a breath of fresh air and it is a VERY FUN game to play!
You are thrown into a world where dinosaurs roam the land and different tribes wage war on each other for the control of resources (wood, rock and food). Each of the three tribes have distinctly units and buildings - and their own tamed dinosaurs. Mounted rhinos, war-mammoths, prehistoric...steam-warships, guarding water-snakes - the list of original ideas is endless!
What has to be mentioned is that playing each different faction does not convey the feeling that you are replaying the same over and over - only with different colors. One tribe has stronger buildings yet weaker units; the other has more dinosaurs yet its fortifications are easily overrun. On top of that, they are all beautifully balanced.
Graphically the game is very well made. Units look and move in a very realistic way, the environmental elements (grass, trees and water) have been nicely rendered - all in all, an impressively looking game.
I picked this for a song - but that is the fate of any game sporting an idiotic protection scheme. The are bin fodder before the year is out. PARAWORLD uses STARFORCE - hence the two stars withheld. A pity, such a great game to be shot in the foot by its own publisher.
If you are boycotting STARFORCE games be warned. Otherwise,
RECOMMENDED!

When i bought paraworld i wasnt expecting anything that great. We have all played RTS games right? i mean come on, their all the same underneath. So wrong. I was greeted by one of the best start up intro movies ever, showing about 30 seconds of a massive dino battle.
The first mission sucked, not gameplay, but story wise, and i thought, well ok...
But it got so much better.
The game itself is extremely different, not only because your doing battle not only with foot soldiers and massive beasts, but because of all the extra little details. For instance, you can harvest food from food bushes, but also from corn fields you make, or any of the wild animals. Wild animals can be the type that run, the type that attack if attacked, or vicious carnivores that will rip you up if you come close.
Not only is there over 50 different dinosaurs (thats not including foot soldiers), and over 10 different heroe units, but theres also different versions of each dinosaur, for instance, a battle rhino, a mounted battle rhino (allows you to put two foot soldiers in - archers are best choice obviously) or a balista rhino, a battle rhino with a massive ballista on its back.
Each of the 3 tribes has completely different units which makes them very fun to experiment with, my favourite being the dust riders as they get the most dinosaurs, however they get the least buildings..
Go on, treat yourself to something different. play Paraworld.

I bought this because it reminded me so much of Dinoriders from the 80's but half expected it to have poor graphics, terrible story lines and overall the worse game I was to ever play. I couldn't have been more wrong. The graphics were amazing, story lines you just want to repeat and quite possibly one of the best strategy games out there on the market.
I Highly reccomend this to all strategy based game lovers.

This is one of the best strategy games ive ever played,the dinosaurs,the environment even the soldiers look so realistic.It reminds me of the 80s cartoon Dinoriders,its kind of like it actually where humans and dinosaurs coexist and fight along each other armed with a range of weapons,but instead of lasers there are weapons such as bows,catapults,seige bows,gattling guns,cannons and titan units such as the Triceratops or T-Rex.The game itself has a very good storyline to it full of adventure,action and deception.The cinematics are also brilliant,one of the best, especially the intro.
I would definately recommend this game to anyone whos into strategy games and if your into dinosaurs like myself thats a added bonus.
